Organization Overview
The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts (SLCA) is dedicated to strengthening community through participation in the arts. We achieve our mission through diverse programming, educational outreach, and by providing our space as a resource to the community. Programs include community theatre productions, free summer outdoor concerts, strategic collaborations, educational workshops, teen theatre productions, and rural outreach programs.

Position Overview
The Shane Center is looking for a Development Coordinator who is passionate about our mission of strengthening our community through participation in the arts. The Development Coordinator is a problem solver, adaptable, eager to learn, and has strong follow-through with an attention to detail.

 This role is vital in leading the Shane Center’s 3-year comprehensive campaign to support our capital projects, programming, and operations. Reporting to the Executive Director (ED), the Development Coordinator will collaborate with the Board of Directors, Development Committee, and community partners to cultivate meaningful donor relationships and secure diverse funding sources.

 

Key Responsibilities

Development & Fundraising:

  • Act as an ambassador for SLCA

  • Play an active role in participating or attending SLCA related programming and events building community relationships

  • Cultivate, steward and expand the relationships between the Shane Center and its donors, strategic partners, and the community

  • Work with the ED, to design and implement an annual fundraising plan, including strategies for grants, major gifts, corporate sponsorships, and in-kind support

  • Research and secure potential foundation and government grants

  • Solicit, secure, and steward program/production sponsors and program advertisers including in-kind donations

  • Oversee donor acknowledgment and stewardship processes, ensuring timely thank-you notes and recognition

  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including the annual gala and Board Receptions

  • Provide leadership in developing special programming in collaboration with the SLCA leadership

  • Assist in marketing the events

  • Help maintain and expand our donor database in Little Green Light, ensuring accurate records and efficient systems

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop donor communications and promotional materials

  • Liaise with the education directors to collect metrics and testimonials for grant reporting and donor communications

  • Manage online giving activities and the Give-A-Hoot campaign to grow the donor base

  • Develop and track metrics to evaluate the success of fundraising efforts

  • Ensure SAM, DUNS, CAGE registrations are complete and manage the organization’s GuideStar profile

  • Identify opportunities for improving workflows, stay informed of best practices and new technologies, and help develop improved processes

Campaign Management:

  • Work with the Development Committee and ED to coordinate and implement the logistics of our ambitious 3-year comprehensive campaign

  • Lead committee meetings, ensuring alignment of the comprehensive campaign

  • Maintain up-to-date tracking of workflow and reporting

  • Identify and cultivate new donors, sponsors, and program advertisers

  • Attend community events to enhance visibility and support for the Shane Center

General Office Duties:

  • Support administrative functions, including maintaining office hours, answering phones, and assisting visitors

  • Help support office cleanliness, supplies, and organization - including the calendar, files, and data

  • Serve as a backup for the ED as needed

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the ED

  • Duties and responsibilities may change

 Requirements

The ideal candidate possesses:

  • 3-5 years of nonprofit experience

  • High level of creativity, motivation, and energy to undertake diverse responsibilities

  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment on several projects at a time with minimal supervision

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly in a nonprofit setting

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with the ability to learn new software

  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, and Premier Pro) and Little Green Light or similar CRM desired

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills

  • Ability to work occasional special events on evenings or weekends with advance notice

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

  • Enthusiasm for the arts and a commitment to excellence

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $58,000–$63,000 annually, based on experience

  • Paid vacation and personal time off

  • Flexible schedule

Work Environment
The Shane Lalani Center for the Arts is located in Livingston, Montana. Work week is generally Monday – Friday 9a-4p, with some variability depending on workload and events. Must be able to work occasional special events and committee meetings on evenings or weekends with advance notice. On-site work is required, though remote work may be considered for the right candidate. Preference will be given to Montana residents.
