Summer Young Actors' Workshop Performance
2024 Summer YAW Production: Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Our flagship education program— an intensive 2-week theatre camp providing workshop classes and rehearsals building to a full-scale musical production. For ages 6-17. Multi-child discounts available.
Expanded bicycle parking onsite. Additional vehicle parking available at Lincoln School, 215 East Lewis St.
Our organization has been devoted to providing artistic education to the students of Park & Gallatin County for over two decades. We accomplish this through the following education programming:
-
K-8 students participate in an intensive 2-week afterschool program culminating in three public performances of a full musical production.
-
Formerly the High School Production, this program follows the same template as our Mainstage shows — resulting in a full production experience. Participating students meet over the course of 6 weeks to rehearse, followed by 9 community performances and a free school performance. Teens of all area schools and recent high school graduates are welcome to audition for this full-length teen theatre production.
-
Students in 6th-12th grade explore contemporary social issues and prepare an artistic performance for the community and their peers culminating in 3 public performances. By encouraging students to openly address difficult topics, bridges can be formed that mitigate feelings of social isolation.
-
The cornerstone of the Education Program is a two-week full-day workshop focusing on all aspects of the performing arts (speech, movement, dance, and music).
Students meet at the Shane Center to learn about these aspects and to rehearse a musical production which will be presented to the community at the close of the workshop with 3 performances.
-
Each one-week, full-day camp for K-8th grade focuses on a different aspect of the performing arts. Each weekly camp will culminate in a community showcase at the close of each camp.
-
Shane Center staff work with students at Arrowhead Elementary, Pine Creek School, and the Park and Gallatin County Home School Association to provide a performing arts opportunity in rural areas. During that week, students rehearse and perform a full production.
-
A total of 3 different classes are offered in the Winter, Spring, and Fall. Each class, hosted over 4 weeks, focuses on different elements of the performing arts.
