Introducing: Kate Britton, Development Coordinator

The Shane Center is thrilled to announce that Kate Britton has joined the team as the organization’s new Development Coordinator. A Montana native with a lifelong passion for the arts, Kate brings over two decades of hands-on experience in the theater world. Her multifaceted background in performance, education, and production makes her an invaluable addition to the Shane Center family.

Kate couldn’t be happier about landing at the Shane Center. “I have admired the Shane Center’s growth since its inception and am beyond excited to contribute to their mission of fostering community through the arts. I’m eager to roll up my sleeves and help the organization continue to thrive and expand,” Kate says. “We are living in a time of incredible cynicism and divisiveness. It is more important than ever that we invest in the things that challenge our assumptions, facilitate dialogue, and encourage new ways of thinking. I can think of no better way to do this than through organizations like the Shane Center.”

Executive Director Erika Adams echoed Kate’s enthusiasm. “Adding Kate to our team is a big step for our organization. We are growing quickly to meet the increasing needs of our community, and Kate’s expertise will help us rise to the challenge. Her deep connection to the arts and her experience will help drive the Shane Center toward our next chapter of success.”

Kate’s love for theater began early. At the age of five, she played the White Tail Deer in her kindergarten production of The Little Juniper Tree. This was followed by her film debut as an extra in Clint Eastwood’s Pale Rider,  experiences that cemented her passion for performing. After earning a BFA in Theater from the University of Montana, Kate spent over 20 years acting professionally, including 15 years in New York and Los Angeles.

During her time in Los Angeles, Kate worked with the renowned Will Geer Theatricum Botanicum as both an actor and teacher. She also co-founded the MT & NY Collaborative, producing original works by Montanans in New York. Most recently, she served as Education Director at Verge Theater in Bozeman, where she inspired countless young performers.

Since returning to Montana, Kate has appeared in numerous local productions, including The Humans  at Verge Theater, Lie of the Mind  at The Blue Slipper, and Arcadia  with the Bozeman Actors Theater. When she’s not at the theater, you’ll find her teaching yoga, gardening, swimming in the river, dancing, or spending time with her family.

Board President, Sarah Skofield says, “We are excited to welcome Kate to the team and can’t wait for our Shane Center community to meet her at one of our upcoming events. This investment into our capacity will have a big impact on the organization and the community we serve."

Welcome, Kate Britton!
