Livingston Film Series: Dr. Strangelove

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb

The Livingston Film Series presents a free public screening of Stanley Kubrick’s significant 1964 film Dr. Strangelove at 7pm on Thursday, September 14 in the Dulcie Theatre at the Shane Lalani Center for the Arts in Livingston.

Kubrick’s classic Cold War satire concerns an unhinged United States Air Force general who orders a pre-emptive nuclear attack on the Soviet Union. It separately follows the President of the United States, his advisors, the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and a Royal Air Force exchange officer as they attempt to prevent the crew of a B-52 (following orders from the general) from bombing the Soviet Union and starting a nuclear war. Featuring a remarkable cast, including George C. Scott, Sterling Hayden, Keenan Wynn, Slim Pickens, Tracy Reed, and Peter Sellers as a British RAF exchange officer, the President of the United States, and Strangelove himself.)

Doors open at 6:30; screenings begin at 7:00 pm. Admission is free; donations are gratefully accepted. Concessions available. UV air filtration in effect.

Livingston Film Series is generously sponsored by Marilyn Clotz & Mary Ann Bearden and Donald B. Gimbel.
